Independent
Video Awards
The 2007 IVies
Welcome
to the Second Annual Independent Video Awards, or
"The IVies".
The Ivies were created to provide our own effort and
recognizing excellence in Independent Filmmaking.
With the advent of newer technology, there are greater
opportunities for independent filmmakers and we wish
to encourage the highest form of art possible.
While the first few years of this effort are likely
to focus on the top films, we are hoping that this
will develop into recognition of further positive
influences on the medium.
This is chosen simply by the owners of this website
and are not influenced in any way by studios, distributors
or others. In fact, no one has contacted us at all
and we are not contacting the winners of these awards.
This year there are many quality films that are out
there. But a unique film that has a true independent
feel and has an influence that should be aspired to
is Juno directed by Jason Reitman.
Juno MacGuff, played ably by Ellen Page, spends nine-months
becoming an adult while dealing with an all too common
issue facing our youth that is under recognized in
the medium. A unique character, she deals with Dancing
Elk High School on her own terms. It's touching, humorous,
and a slice of Americana not seen often enough on
film.
So, to the makers of Juno (who include John
Malkovich as one of the producers), congratulations
on winning the 2007 IVy for Best Independent Feature.
